Gene Sun is Corporate Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer for FedEx Corporation. He is responsible for securing FedEx information assets and ensuring business continuity for its broad Transportation, eCommerce, and Retail and other critical business services. Additionally, he provides leadership and strategic direction for information risk management and regulatory compliance worldwide which supports annual revenue of $69B and more than 450,000 worldwide team members across all operating companies globally.

Gene joined FedEx in 1997 and held multiple executive positions supporting key FedEx programs including Infrastructure Services, Systems Engineering, and Application Development. Before assuming his current role, Gene served as Vice President, Global Network and Communication Services. In this role, Gene was accountable for the daily operation of the worldwide data and voice network. While overseeing a multi-hundred-million-dollar budget and a globally diverse organization, Gene also led multiple transformational efforts including the modernization of aging voice/video infrastructure as well as the aggressive adoption of Cloud services through programs such as Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Azure.

Gene holds a BSEE degree from the Harbin Engineering University of China, as well as both a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from The University of Memphis. Gene also serves on the board of directors for Open Network Group (ONUG) as well as an advisory member for Herf College of Engineering, University of Memphis.
